Traveler Reviews in Mallorca Hotels

Hotel Horizonte Palma. I stayed there from Jan 11th to 16th. The Hotel is not the easiest to find first time, the easiest is to take the no 1 bus from the airport priced at 1.80 and stay on till you see the sign above the driver say Porto Pi. The journey takes about 1/2 an hour. Then grab a cab! The hotel is only about 1 kilometre away. The walk is steepish but not to bad, (travel light) there are two sets of steps but I found it easier to walk round by road, I am 69 years old. When you want to go to Palma, come out and there is a bus stop above the taxi rank. The bus is numbered No 6 and costs 1.10 which takes you to Plaza Reina by the Cathedral and runs every half hour. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms adequate, clean etc though there are some surcharges such as 2 per night for use of television and also the safe, 9 per night for air conditioning plus 10 per item refundable deposit. Bar prices are not to bad and the buffet meal is 7 which is cheap though neither exciting nor brilliant. It starts off good but is left lying about to long and is at best tepid? Breakfast was included in our deal and was more than sufficient with a reasonable selection of food to choose from, no need to go hungry. There is a wonderful sun terrace looking straight out over the Port with a largish pool and separate paddling pool. It doesn't pretend to be four star but is perfectly adequate. There is a huge shopping mall where you get off the number 1 bus which takes a bit of finding as it is underground. It has a large Carrefour supermarket in it as well as all manner of other shops, a bit like a small Trafford Centre. One little quirk that I have not come across before is that the toilet in our room flushed with warm water??..Very strange! Michael W. Sykes
