You walk into a hotel to meet a friend. On the way to the bar, a painting stops you. You ask who made it. Twenty minutes later, you are talking to an artist, a visitor from another country and someone who lives around the corner.
That is what can happen when a hotel opens its doors to art.
Palma de Mallorca has outstanding museums and independent galleries. It also has hotels that collect, exhibit and make space for artists. Some display permanent collections. Others host changing exhibitions or temporary projects. Together, they offer another way to discover the city, from El Terreno and the port to the Passeig Marítim, Passeig Mallorca and the old town.
Here is a guide to the hotel art spaces and initiatives we could document in Palma, and to why we created Horizon The Gallery at Hotel Amic Horizonte.
Horizon The Gallery: art above the Bay of Palma
At Hotel Amic Horizonte, art has become part of how we welcome people to the hotel. Horizon The Gallery, at Vista Alegre, 1, is our cultural space overlooking the Bay of Palma.
We want an exhibition to be a reason to come in, even if you are not staying overnight: to discover an artist, meet other people, talk about a work and see a familiar part of Palma from a different angle. The gallery has already presented artists including Efraín Pérez Ballesteros, whose exhibition Una huella en el camino was held at the hotel. Exhibition announcement
Our location makes that invitation especially meaningful. Hotel Amic Horizonte stands between Porto Pi, La Bonanova and El Terreno, with Bellver Castle, the port and the Passeig Marítim forming part of its surroundings. An art visit here can become the beginning of an afternoon exploring Palma’s western neighbourhoods.

Terreno Barrio Hotel: a gallery rooted in the neighbourhood
A short cultural journey through El Terreno leads to Terreno Barrio Hotel on Avinguda de Joan Miró. Its project includes a pop-up gallery on Callejón de Terreno, inaugurated with an exhibition presented by Marc Bibiloni Art Gallery.
The setting matters as much as the exhibition. The hotel connects the project to Gomila’s history of music, nightlife and creative freedom. Artist Jaime Urdiales explores urban memory through painting and ceramics: a fitting subject for a neighbourhood whose identity has changed repeatedly without losing its character.
It shows what a hotel gallery can do particularly well: give artists a space and give a neighbourhood another place to tell its own story.
Hotel Artmadams: living with art near the Passeig Marítim
At Hotel Artmadams, on Carrer de Marquès de la Sénia, modern art has long been part of the hotel’s identity. The hotel describes a collection of works by Mallorcan artists throughout its communal areas and has also been a venue for exhibitions and art events.
Art here is something you encounter while moving through the building. It changes the atmosphere of a lobby or a shared space and gives guests a first introduction to Mallorca’s creative community.
If you wish to visit an exhibition without staying at the hotel, check the event details with Artmadams in advance; access to a hotel’s communal spaces and access to a particular exhibition are not always the same thing.
Hotel Saratoga: exhibitions for guests and the public
Near Passeig Mallorca, Hotel Saratoga offers one of Palma’s clearest examples of a hotel explicitly welcoming the public to art. Working with Artevisión, it presents artists’ work in its spaces for both hotel guests and the general public. The hotel also announces openings where visitors can meet the artists.
That invitation changes the relationship between a hotel and its city. Someone can
